The vision of Kentucky Church Planting is to grow the number of Assemblies of God churches in Kentucky to 300. It is our desire that new church plants grow to become healthy, autonomous, General Council affiliated Assemblies of God churches within three years of their launch date.

We believe God wants more Assemblies of God churches thriving as healthy fellowships, evangelizing the unchurched, discipling new believers, and mentoring church leaders. Since we believe that passionately, we also believe that God is specifically calling men and women in and to Kentucky for the unique ministry of planting churches.

Having declared our vision to plant churches, we have to acknowledge that church planting is not for everyone. It is not for those who have had a bad experience in the pastorate. It is not for staff pastors who simply want to launch out on their own. It is not for those who have struggled with the leadership of established churches and think it will be easier to start from scratch. God may use some of those things to get the attention of the ones He has called to church planting, but they are not in themselves evidence of the call to church planting.

Church planting is a specific call, much like the call to be a missionary, evangelist, pastor, youth pastor, children’s pastor, or minister of music. It is our aim to recognize those who have the church planting call, strategize with them as to where God is calling them to plant a church, and prepare them for success in pursuing that call.
